The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) office in Turkey recently started sending clean water tankers to camps in Al-Bab and the surrounding area northeast of Aleppo, Syria. This part of the country is environmentally dry and far from any municipal water system. The humanitarian project intends to improve the well-being of almost 14,000 people – primarily women and children – by supplying safe water for drinking and personal hygiene. Local authorities strive to ensure that the most vulnerable families are given priority and obtain additional basic necessities from other charitable organizations. Black holes warp space, bend light and twist magnetic fields.
Researchers at Stanford University in the United States have published a report on their discovery at the center of a galaxy 800 million light-years from Earth. Gas that was falling into a black hole 10 million times the mass of our Sun produced bright X-ray emissions. The astrophysicists then saw echoes of the X-rays coming from behind the black hole. This observation confirmed for the first time Dr. Albert Einstein’s theory of general relativity: Supermassive objects, such as black holes, warp the fabric of space-time. The light from the far side of the black hole was detectable because its extreme gravity had bent it. We are very grateful, to Dr. Albert Einstein and the Stanford University researchers, for our enhanced understanding of the physical universe. Several railway organizations have joined forces with Youth for Sustainable Travel to provide a greener route to COP26. The “Climate Train” will begin on October 30 with hydrogen-powered electric battery Eurostar service from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to London, England. Passengers will transfer to the equally energy efficient Avanti West Coast line for the second half of the trip to Glasgow, Scotland. During the journey, delegates, observers, and media members will be encouraged to participate in seminars and debates about using eco-friendly trains and other means of conveyance to reduce air pollution. Enhanced gut microbiome improves autoimmune disease.
In Iran, a research team has completed a meta-analysis of data from several clinical trials in which probiotics were used to treat people with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). A total of 213 patients joined tests that ranged from 12 to 24 weeks. Half of the participants were prescribed beneficial bacteria supplements; the rest were given placebos. The scientists found that the people who took the probiotics experienced less disability and depression while their overall physical and mental well-being improved. Humanitarian organization gains from entrepreneur’s generosity.
An anonymous business person intended to open a new retail clothing store in South Australia but could not because of the pandemic lockdowns. Instead, the would-be proprietor donated dozens of boxes of new clothes valued at approximately US$15,000 to the Australian Red Cross. The charity was overwhelmed by such a large assortment of summer and winter items for women, men and children. It decided to give free outfits to newly arrived migrants and sell any leftover stock at discounted prices. The proceeds will fund Red Cross programs that help the most vulnerable community members. Selfless heroes accomplish overnight mercy mission.
In July 2021, when Sandra Bischoff of Cologne, Germany, heard about the flooding along the Erft River, she felt compelled to go and assist the animals there. Even though it was her bedtime, she rallied her family and a friend to take three cars towing horse trailers to the disaster area. After driving roughly 30 kilometers in torrential rain, the rescue team reached some stables that were knee-deep in water. Ms. Bischoff later told Germany’s international broadcaster, Deutsche Welle, that the horses were terrified and reluctant to enter the trailers. Eventually, Ms. Bischoff and her team successfully loaded six horses and translocated them to safety in Leverkusen.
