When they, Vijay and Pragalbh, heard that a spy disguised as a nude ascetic had been apprehended, they came to see Him. Shraman Mahavira, tied up, was standing in meditation in the prison. The two mendicant women recognized Him and became sad. They approached the guards and said, 'You call yourselves guardians of the state and people, but you failed to distinguish a thief from an honest citizen. For your information, you are torturing Shraman Vardhaman, the ascetic son of King Siddhartha.'" "'Have you no fear of the wrath of the gods?' With this revelation, the soldiers started trembling.
