Previously in Part 1 and 2 of this multipart series on Greg Johnson’s near-death experience, Greg described how years of spiritual suffering and a later overdose left him with severe heart damage. Years later, at a hidden canyon river, he felt called away from his brother and a close friend, sat alone on a large rock, closed his eyes, and listened to the water. In the stillness, he heard his damaged heart beat, stop almost like a flatline, and beat again — and he felt himself inching toward death.
Moving through a dark path, a blinding white Light eventually appeared, and Greg found himself before a being of Light. With his heart completely exposed, he told her, “I want to be like you.”
And I always remember her response, because she said, “You are me, and I am you.” And immediately, because I’m such a skeptic, I immediately, not arguing with her, but I tried to point out to her. I was like, “Look, look at me.” Because, before her, my heart was exposed, everything that I am, all my flaws as a human being, [so] I just told her, I’m like, “Look at me. I’m not like you.” She just said, “You are me, and I am you.”
I’m like, “Look at me. That’s not true. Look at this flawed human. I am not like you. You are amazing. Look at me.” I was trying to show her. But it was so funny because, when she spoke the truth, she never tried to defend herself after that. She never tried to argue back with me. Here I’m trying to point out to her my flaws, and it felt like she was saying, “I spoke the truth, and that’s the end of it.” Like, that’s the end. There’s no more conversation here.
After resting in her presence, the being reached out her hand. Greg took it, and together they began to fly, rising through the atmosphere and out into the cosmos. The Earth grew smaller until it was long gone. Then Greg felt something pull at him from behind.
And then, boom, I feel like a string or a rope that just stops. And I felt all my attachments. I felt all the people I love, family members, friends, all these, what we would call attachments. And I could feel them all. And the attachment was love. I could feel the love. I didn’t feel attachments to, like, a car or a house or a bank account. I felt attachments that had everything to do with love. And when I felt that moment, so much happened in that moment because it felt like I wanted to go back; the love was drawing me back. And it was difficult because here, I’ve been suffering all my life, or at least the majority of it. And now, I feel all this love, and I want to run back to all these people. And then I had to remind myself, and this was really difficult, because my suffering had to be so high just to have a chance. And I told myself, “Dude, what are you thinking? You’re thinking you want to go back. Don’t you remember? Did you forget you wanted this? You wanted to leave. You’re suffering. That’s all you’ve ever done, is suffer. And now you’re feeling all this stuff. You want to go back.” But I made a really hard decision, like a hard stop, and said, “You know what? I really want to go back, but I don’t ever want to suffer like that anymore. It’s really hard for me to do this, but this is a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I’m about to finally leave.” So, I let it all go. It was really hard. I let go of my family. I let go of my body. I just let go of everything.
Once Greg surrendered, the being took him onward through the stars, which he now understood functioned like doorways, each one launching them in a new direction at impossible speed. Eventually, he knew with certainty that he was never going to find his way back. He had truly left.
In Part 4, after Greg believes he has left Earth behind, he arrives before a circle of beings — and they tell him this moment was planned long before his birth. We arrive to what I call a council. There are literally these beings in a circle. The moment I arrived, they spoke to me with one voice. Join us tomorrow for Part 4 of this multipart series on Greg Johnson’s near-death experience. (Round Trip Death)
